A lot of the content that the AFL was producing targeted older audiences and die hard fans but kids, who make up a huge and very important part of the fan base were being totally overlooked - and so that’s where I came in!

The AFL is really big in growing the game and they recognised that there was a huge gap in their content offering when it came to youth audiences.
My role as The Creative Lead of Kids and Youth Content was to develop creative campaigns for youth audiences that would sit across AFL digital platforms. In this role I would create, write, direct, plan, produce and even build props - so I was a bit of an all-rounder!

OVERVIEW:

The AFL is really big in growing the game and they recognised that there was a huge gap in their content offering when it came to youth audiences. A lot of the content that the AFL was producing targeted older audiences and die hard fans but kids, who make up a huge and very important part of the fan base were being totally overlooked - and so that’s where I came in! 

 

The AFL gave me full creative freedom to produce content that was targeted at younger fans! It was really great from a creative point of view to be working from a blank slate and we got to produce some really fun stuff! 

 

Young footy fans get to see their favourite players battling it out on the sports field and answering serious questions in press conferences, but they don’t often get to see them just hanging out and having a bit of a laugh, and so that's what I wanted to capture with this series!

I wanted to create a content series that had a big vibe and left kids with a huge smile on their faces! I also wanted to produce content that appealed to both footy and non-footy fans. This resulted in a lot of mess, huge water fights, picnics, pranks, arm wrestling competitions, dancing, push up challenges, failed cooking shows and everything in between!
